About the cards…
The Hāz for Hope cause awareness note cards custom design is a culmination of many years of fashion and graphic design experience combined with my love for textures, patterns and fine paper. I designed the ribbon laced into paper concept during the first rounds of chemotherapy in 2005 after receiving a note in the mail from a complete stranger that touched my heart in a profound way, knowing that I could use my experience and talent to design cards that could do the same for others.
I recently updated the card backgrounds, each is drawn by hand and is reflective of my experiences – one an illustration of an embroidery design I did for Liz Claiborne in my NYC days, another is a textile pattern I designed while at FIT and won an award for, another is a pattern from the dot and box game I played often with my parents as a kid. I still make every card by hand myself.
Since my first diagnosis, I’ve had many close friends and family affected by cancer and other chronic diseases. Some have recovered and are in remission, some are still fighting, and some we’ve lost. You are not alone in your battle, or your parent’s battle, or your sibling’s battle, or your friends battle. We are all in this together. When you purchase the Hāz for Hope note cards, I donate 10% to a local cause foundation. Let’s make a difference together.
We lost my father, J. Michael Hayes, to dementia in May of 2019. He shared his graphic design experience and talent with me over the years, which I share with you through the note cards. Cheers Dad, I love and miss you dearly.
