Leiomyosarcoma

Leiomyosarcoma is a rare cancer of the soft tissues of smooth muscle cells. This type of cancer is most common in the uterus, small intestine, stomach and abdomen.

About 1 in 100,000 people is diagnosed with LMS each year. Leiomyosarcoma is one of the more common types of soft-tissue sarcoma, representing 10 percent to 20 percent of new cases. (Leiomyosarcoma of the bone is more rare.) Sarcoma is rare, consisting of only 1 percent of cancer cases in adults.

I make these cards in honor of my dear friend Tina, who was diagnosed in 2017. She’s a fighter and a survivor, and was so helpful to me during my first round of treatments. I’m so proud of you friend!
